Autodesk Fusion 360 CAD/CAM/CNC: How to create a Co2 car
Description
In this course, we'll create a CO2 dragster that competes to win the title of “Champion.” The car must meet competition specifications and be designed to meet the variety of forces that affect motion and velocity. Weight, wind drag, and impact are all factors that will influence performance. Use Autodesk® Fusion 360™ to design and test as many factors as possible, improving your chances for success.
To build on the CO2 car project, you work as team in your shop to design and create a manual fourth-axis fixture that indexes every 90 degrees, allowing you to cut and machine all four sides of your car if necessary.

After completing this course, students will:
- Edit the freeform model.
- Move the various gauges to check the CAD model.
- Apply an appearance override to the model.
- Modify events in the timeline.
- Generate a video of the animation.
- Create an exploded view of the assembly.
- Load and dry run the program and machine the part.
Contents and Overview
This course consists of 10 sections that include lectures and hands-on exercises using Fusion 360. Each lesson includes comprehensive lecture presentations and project exercises that include step-by-step video instruction, project resources and datasets, and a final course assessment.
At the beginning of the course, we’ll apply design for manufacturing principles to design a Co2 car. Step-by step video tutorials guide you through the process from sketch to documentation. We’ll then use Fusion 360 CAM to set up and program the Co2 car CAD model for successful manufacture.
Once we’ve reviewed manufacturing best practices, we’ll overview of the CNC setup and machining for a Co2 car. We’ll then step through the inspection process to ensure accuracy in our design.
At the end of the course, you’ll take a course assessment that demonstrates your expertise and shows you where you might need more practice. The skills in this course will help you apply design and engineering concepts and practice real-world scenarios that you may encounter in the design process.
